I have used Precision Garage Door Service for many years and always have had great service. When I called today with my questions about what was going on, Precision listened and immediately set my appointment. I was able to see a repairman within an hour and a half. He was finishing up another job nearby. He found the problem and started working to fix it. He had a couple of different things he had to fix and when he finished, it worked like new! This was our second service call with Patrick-first visit was necessry maintenance on both doors and this visit was to install new belt drive openers on both doors. On both service calls, Patrick has been prompt, professional, and performed the work to our satisfaction.

3/5 stars There are genuinely good things to say about my experience with Precision. The technician was prompt, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. The work was completed quickly, my garage door is working properly, and the problems I called about were addressed. He also seemed to make an effort to find available discounts and save me money where he could. From a workmanship and customer-service standpoint, I have no complaints. Unfortunately, I came away from the experience feeling very uncomfortable with the sales and pricing process. I was quoted a little over $2,100 for a fairly extensive hardware overhaul. I asked if the estimate could be sent to me so I could review it independently before authorizing the work, but was told that wasn’t possible. In retrospect, I should have stopped the process there and obtained competing estimates. Instead, I authorized the work, and by the time I reconsidered and asked to hold off, the repair had already begun and the spring tension had been released. Afterward, I researched comparable work and believe I paid roughly $600 more than I reasonably should have expected to pay, even after the discounts that were applied. I understand that Precision positions itself as a premium service and that convenience, prompt availability, quality parts, warranties, and professional technicians have value. I don’t expect the cheapest price in town. But there is a point where premium pricing begins to feel excessive, particularly when the customer isn’t given an opportunity to take the written estimate away and evaluate it before making a four-figure decision. I was also specifically told that the upgraded springs being installed were rated for approximately 55,000 cycles. My final invoice identifies the two installed springs as 20,000-cycle springs. The 100,000-cycle rating shown on the invoice applies to the rollers, not the springs. That discrepancy is disappointing and should not have happened. Ultimately, the door works well, the technician was professional, and I received substantial, legitimate work for my money. This is not a complaint that nothing needed to be repaired or that the work wasn’t performed. My issue is that the combination of very premium pricing, the inability to independently review the estimate before authorizing it, and the discrepancy between what I was told and what the invoice says left me feeling like I had been subjected to a high-pressure sales process and had substantially overpaid. Good work and good service should leave a customer feeling confident about what they purchased. Unfortunately, despite being satisfied with the actual repair, I left feeling like I’d been taken for a ride. That’s why I can’t give the experience more than three stars.

Patrick was Great! He was very knowledgable and expalined to me all sorts of things about the type springs we had vs other options and how they would work with our motor to help extend the motor life. Worked up multiple quotes for my wife and I to look over before finally making our decsion. He had everything he needed on hand and made the repairs right away.
